SHS Scholarship Application Instructions

Scholarship Collection Day 2020

Due to school closure in March and April, Scholarship Collection Day has been extended to two days in May. Please follow the directions as posted below in February regarding copies and transcripts.

Scholarship Collection Day is Tuesday, May 5 and Wednesday, May 6, 2020 from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM in the SHS College and Career Center in Room A200.

No additional scholarships can be accepted after that time as we will be providing submissions to donors immediately.

Helpful Hints & Reminders

If a transcript is needed, you may use the transcript from your senior folder or send a polite request to your counselor.

If the scholarship has a due date and an address for the organization, you are encouraged to send it out on your own.

Scholarship Knight remains scheduled for Sunday, May 31st at SHS.

If you are the recipient of a scholarship, you will be provided with information about how to access the award and to whom you should address your thank you note.

All scholarship amounts are at the discretion of the donor. SHS has no control over discrepancies between what is posted and what the organization/donor is able to award.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your counselor or me with scholarship questions.

Respectfully, Ms. Hennessy

SHS Scholarship -The recipients for SHS Scholarships are selected by a committee of SHS faculty, School Counselors and Administrators.
Bring two copies of your materials (resume, checklist and standard application) for SHS Scholarships.

Donor-Selected Scholarships
There are two types in this category. In both cases your packet is mailed to the donors who will inform the school of the winner.

#1. The first type has historically been referred to as “Custom Applications”. For these scholarships, donors might require a special application form, a typed essay or a customized resume. Bring TWO copies of your materials (resume, checklist and standard application, AND the materials required according to the application) for this category of scholarships.

#2. The second type has historically been referred to as “Outside Applications”. These scholarships require students to submit the SHS “STANDARD APPLICATION” and resume. Bring TWO copies of your materials (resume, checklist and standard application) for this category of scholarships.
